Shipping & Delivery
Last updated:
Every Kind Stitch order starts as a blank garment and a name, a date or a little symbol you chose for the two of you or for your whole crew. This page explains what happens between the moment you place that order and the moment the parcel reaches your door: how long embroidery takes, where we ship, what shipping costs, how long transit usually runs and what to do if a parcel seems to be taking the long way home. It applies to every order placed on kindstitch.shop.
Shipping at a glance
- Shipping cost: free on every order, with no minimum spend and no code to enter.
- Where we deliver: the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand only.
- Where parcels leave from: every order ships from the USA.
- Processing: 1–3 business days, because your pieces are embroidered after you order.
- Transit: 7–14 business days to the United States, and 7–14 business days to Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- Tracking: when a tracking number is available for your parcel, we email it to you.
- Changes to the address: possible within 24 hours of ordering.
- Help: email [email protected]; we reply within 24 hours on business days.
1. Why your order needs a few days before it ships
Nothing in our shop sits pre-stitched on a shelf. When you type “Maya” on one hoodie and “Jordan” on the other, those letters do not exist in thread until your order comes in. That is why every order has a processing stage of 1–3 business days before it leaves us.
What happens during processing
- Your personalization fields are read exactly as you typed them: names, initials, dates, a family name with its Est. year, sleeve text, thread color and chest position.
- Each garment in the order is matched to its own size and color. A couple order with two sizes is handled as two separate pieces that travel together.
- The embroidery is done, the pieces are folded together and the parcel is prepared for the carrier.
Business days, not calendar days
Processing and transit are counted in business days, Monday to Friday. Weekends and public holidays are not counted. An order placed late on a Friday therefore usually begins processing the following Monday. If you are shopping close to a big date, count only the weekdays in between.
We embroider what you type
We do not send a proof or mockup before production. The live preview on each product page shows how your text will sit on the garment, and that preview is your proof. Please read every letter and number before you place the order. If you spot a mistake afterward, you have 24 hours to tell us, as explained on our Cancel or Change an Order page.
2. Shipping costs and delivery estimates by country
Shipping is free to all four countries we serve. There is no minimum order value, no coupon to remember and no extra charge for sending a single beanie instead of a full family set. The amount you see at checkout is the amount you pay for your items; shipping shows as free.
| Destination | Shipping cost | Processing | Transit after shipping |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Free, no minimum | 1–3 business days | 7–14 business days |
| Canada | Free, no minimum | 1–3 business days | 7–14 business days |
| Australia | Free, no minimum | 1–3 business days | 7–14 business days |
| New Zealand | Free, no minimum | 1–3 business days | 7–14 business days |
How to read the estimate
Add processing and transit together for a rough total. For every destination that comes to about 8–17 business days from the order to the doorstep. These are estimates rather than promises: weather, holiday volume and customs checks can all add time, and we cannot fix a delivery date for any order.
A quick worked example
Say you order a pair of crewneck sweatshirts on a Monday morning. Processing could finish as early as Tuesday or Wednesday, or run to Thursday. Transit then begins, and 7–14 business days later the parcel should reach you. If that timing lands right on top of an anniversary dinner, we would gently suggest ordering a week or two earlier so the hoodies are waiting for you rather than the other way around.
3. Where we ship, and where we do not
We currently sell to and deliver in four countries: the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Checkout only offers shipping to addresses in those countries. If you live elsewhere, we are sorry that we cannot send an order to you yet, and we cannot reroute a parcel to a fifth country after it ships.
Sending a gift to someone else
You are welcome to pay from one country and ship to another, as long as both are on the list. A common example: a grandchild in Kansas ordering matching sweatshirts for grandparents in Canada. Enter the grandparents’ address as the shipping address, and their parcel goes out with the same free shipping and the same 7–14 business day transit estimate. If the gift is a surprise, use your own email at checkout so any shipping updates come to you rather than to them.
Remote and rural addresses
Addresses in remote areas, islands or rural routes can take longer than the usual estimate because the final leg of the journey is slower. That is outside our control, but we are happy to help you check on a parcel that seems to be lingering.
4. Getting the address right the first time
The fastest delivery is the one that only needs one try. Before you pay, read the shipping address back to yourself the way the carrier will read it.
- Include the apartment, unit, suite or lot number on the first or second address line.
- Use the full postal code for the destination country.
- Write the recipient’s name the way it appears on their mailbox or door, not a nickname.
- For a university or office address, add the department or building so it does not stop at a mail room.
If you notice an address mistake
Email us within 24 hours of placing the order with your order number and the corrected address. Within that window we can update it at no cost. After 24 hours the parcel may already be on its way through processing, and we cannot always redirect it. Write to us anyway; we will tell you honestly what is still possible.
If a parcel comes back to us
Occasionally a parcel is returned to sender because the address was incomplete or nobody collected it. If that happens, we will email you to arrange what comes next. Please contact us so we can work out the best way to get your order to you.
5. Tracking your parcel
When a tracking number is available for your parcel, we email it to the address you used at checkout. Not every shipment produces a tracking number at the same moment, and we do not promise one for every order. Updates can also lag a day or two behind the parcel itself, especially when it crosses a border.
You can check the current status of your order at any time on our Order Tracking page using your order number and the billing email. That page also explains what each order status means.
Orders with more than one piece
A couple order or a family set is usually packed together in one parcel. A family of four ordering Big Star and Little Star tees in adult L, adult M, Youth S and 3T should expect them to arrive together. If an order ever needs to travel in more than one parcel, we will let you know by email so a single box does not leave you wondering where the rest went.
6. When a parcel is late, missing or damaged
Most parcels arrive within the estimate. When one does not, here is how we suggest working through it together.
Running behind the estimate
- Count the business days since your order was placed, leaving out weekends and holidays.
- If you have a tracking number, check its latest update and look for any delivery notice or note left by the carrier.
- Check with neighbors, a building manager or a reception desk, and look around porches and side doors.
- If it is still missing, email [email protected] with your order number. We will look into it with you and explain the next steps.
Marked delivered but not received
A “delivered” scan sometimes appears a little before the parcel actually reaches the door, or it lands at a neighboring address. Give it one more business day and check nearby, then contact us. We will help you with the carrier side of things and talk through the options with you.
Arrived damaged or with the wrong item
If a garment arrives torn, stained, with embroidery that does not match what you typed, or in a size you did not order, please email us and describe what you found. A photo helps us understand quickly. Any photo you send us is deleted 30 days after delivery. Damaged or incorrect pieces can also be returned within 60 days of delivery with a free return label; see our Returns & Exchanges Policy.
7. Customs, duties and taxes
All orders ship from the USA. For customers in the United States, there is no border to cross. For customers in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the parcel passes through the customs process of the destination country.
- Import duties or taxes depend on the rules of the destination country and on the value of the order.
- If a charge applies, the carrier or the local customs office will usually tell you how and when it can be settled.
- If you are not sure whether your order might be affected, email us before ordering and we will help you understand what we know.
Customs checks can also add a few days to transit. That is a normal part of international shipping and is one more reason to leave a little extra time for a gift going abroad.
8. Planning around a special date
Matching hoodies for a holiday photo, a sweatshirt pair for a wedding weekend, a baby bodysuit that matches Mama’s pocket tee for a first birthday: many of our orders have a date attached. We cannot fix a delivery date, but these habits help.
- Work backward from the date with the full 1–3 business days of processing plus 7–14 business days of transit.
- Add a few business days of breathing room for holidays, weather and border checks.
- Check sizes before you order using our Size Guide, so you do not lose time on an exchange.
- Read every personalized letter in the live preview. A date like XII.VI.MMXIX looks lovely in thread but is easy to mistype.
Pair sets and mixed sizes
A 2-piece pair set ships as one order even when the two halves are in different sizes. If Maya chooses the Moon half in L and Jordan the Star half in S, both pieces go out together, and the processing time is the same as for a single piece.
