What Kind Stitch is about

There is a small word hidden inside our name. Look at “kind” and you will find “kin,” the people who count as yours. A stitch is the short line of thread that holds two pieces of fabric together. Put the two ideas side by side and you have the whole store: clothing that quietly says these people belong to each other.

We focus on one thing. Matching pieces for two or more. That might be a couple who has been together for three months or thirty years, two partners planning a wedding weekend, a parent and a toddler heading to a holiday photo, or grandparents who want the whole family in the same color for a reunion. Every kind of couple and every shape of family is welcome here. You choose who wears what; our designs never assume who is who.

Everything on the site is embroidered. The design is sewn into the garment with thread rather than inked onto the surface, which gives each piece a gentle raised texture you can feel with your fingertips. It also means each order is made for you after you place it, not pulled from a shelf.

What we sell

Our range is built around everyday pieces people actually reach for, so a matching set gets worn on ordinary Sundays and not only on the big day. Here is how the shop is organized.

Couple hoodies

Pullover hoodies with a front pouch pocket, plus a full-zip hoodie and a hoodie pair set. Designs include two-part motifs such as a moon and a star, a lock and a key, two puzzle pieces, and a crown pair, along with a roman-numeral date hoodie and a hoodie with a name on the sleeve. Browse them in Couple Hoodies.

Couple sweatshirts

Crewneck sweatshirts and a quarter-zip for cooler days and layered photos. You will find split designs like sun and moon, coffee and cream, a script “Mr” and “Mrs” option, a tiny left-chest heart, a just-married heart, an initials-and-year crewneck and a crewneck pair set. See them all in Couple Sweatshirts.

Couple tees

Short-sleeve tees, a pocket tee and a long-sleeve tee for warmer months, travel and layering. Think heartbeat lines, a cat-person and dog-person pair, a little bee, two swans, and a sunrise-and-sunset tee pair set, plus a pocket tee with initials and a date. Find them in Couple Tees.

Family matching

Pieces sized for adults, kids, toddlers and babies so a whole household can coordinate: a constellation tee, a big star and little star tee, a bear-family crewneck, a kids crewneck, a baby bodysuit, a family-name crewneck with an “Est.” year, and a Mama and Mini crewneck set. Start in Family Matching.

Names and dates

Every piece that carries your own words lives together in one place: initials, names, anniversary or wedding dates, roman numerals, a family name and the year it began, and sleeve text, plus a cuffed knit beanie with initials. Open Names & Dates to see what can be personalized.

If you would rather see everything at once, the full catalog is in the Shop.

How our designs work

Matching does not have to mean identical. Most of our designs are built so that each person’s piece makes sense alone and completes the picture when you stand side by side.

Two-part designs

Many products come with a design option. One half might be a moon, the other a star; one a lock, the other a key. You order each half as its own line in the cart, which lets each person pick their own size and, where offered, their own garment color. Say Maya orders the Moon half in L and Jordan orders the Star half in S. That is two lines, two sizes, and one parcel arriving at your door.

Shared designs

Other pieces use the same motif on everyone, like the tiny left-chest heart or the heartbeat line. Order as many as you need in whatever mix of sizes fits your people. A family of four could wear Big Star and Little Star tees in adult L, adult M, Youth S and 3T, all from the same product page.

Pair sets

Our 2-piece pair sets put both garments in one listing. You choose the first size from the size buttons and the second size in its own field below them. On the mountains-and-waves hoodie set, for example, the Waves hoodie size is chosen in that separate field, so one partner can wear a 2XL while the other wears an S. The Mama and Mini crewneck set works the same way, with a field for the mini’s size.

Mixing sizes and colors

Size mixing is the normal way to shop here, not an exception. Adult unisex sizes run S to 3XL, youth XS to XL, toddler 2T to 4T, and baby 6M, 12M and 18M; the beanie is one size. The Size Guide explains how to compare with a garment you already own and how to choose when two people want the same look in very different sizes.

Names, dates and thread colors

Personalized pieces carry the details that make a set feel like yours. Depending on the product, you can add:

  • names or initials, such as “Ana & Leo”;
  • dates, written as numbers or as roman numerals, such as XII.VI.MMXIX;
  • a family name with an “Est.” year, such as “The Reyes Crew, Est. 2016”;
  • a word or name on the sleeve;
  • a thread color: White, Black, Terracotta, Navy or Mustard;
  • a position, left chest or center chest, where the product offers that choice.

Each field shows its maximum length right on the product page, and a live preview shows how your words will sit on the design. We do not send a separate proof or mockup before production. We embroider exactly what you type, so please read every letter and number twice before you check out. If a mistake slips through, you have 24 hours after ordering to ask for a change; the Cancel or Change an Order page explains how.

A gentle note on thread color: pale thread glows on a dark garment, and dark thread reads best on a light one. Terracotta and Mustard sit softly on neutral colors. If you are unsure, email us the garment color you are considering and we will tell you which threads we think will read most clearly.

To keep things fair to creators, our personalization fields do not accept brand names, team names or character names. Your names, your dates and your own words are always welcome.

How your order is made and shipped

Here is the path from your cart to your door, step by step.

  1. You choose and personalize. Pick the design half, color and size for each person, fill in any names or dates, and check the live preview.
  2. We embroider after you order. Nothing is pre-made. Each piece is embroidered once your order comes in.
  3. Processing takes 1–3 business days. That is the time to embroider and pack your order.
  4. It ships from the USA. Delivery to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand takes 7–14 business days after dispatch.
  5. We keep you posted. When a tracking number is available, we email it to you.

Planning around an anniversary, a wedding or a holiday photo? Add the processing time and the transit time together and leave a little breathing room. A gift sent to a grandparent in Canada, for example, should be ordered with the full 7–14 business days of transit in mind, on top of processing. For orders outside the US, any import duties or taxes depend on the destination country’s rules; the Shipping & Delivery page covers what we know, and you are welcome to email us before ordering.

What we promise you

Buying something personal online asks for trust. These are the commitments we make on every order.

Returns on anything, for 60 days

You can return any item within 60 days of delivery, including personalized pieces. If you simply changed your mind, we still pay the return postage with a free return label. If the Mini piece of a Mama and Mini set gets outgrown before you expected, that is covered too, as long as it is within the 60 days. The full process is on the Returns & Exchanges page.

Refunds within 7 days of your return arriving

Once your return reaches us, we send the refund within 7 days, either to your original payment method or as store credit if you prefer. Store credit never expires. Details are on the Refund Policy page.

Changes within 24 hours

Typed “Est. 2061” when you meant “Est. 2016”? Email us within 24 hours of ordering and we will correct it free of charge. The same window applies to cancellations.

Clear facts, no pressure

We do not run countdown timers, fake stock counts or pushy pop-ups. Prices, shipping, the return window and how to contact us are visible on every product page. The payment options available are shown at checkout.

Respect for your privacy

We do not collect customer photos through uploads. If you choose to email us a photo, for example to show how a piece fits, we delete it 30 days after delivery. Read more in the Privacy Policy.

Do you sell in my country?

We sell and ship to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand only.

What fabric are the garments?

Fabric content and garment details can vary by product and color. If you need specifics for a particular piece, email us the product name and color and we will answer with what we can confirm for that item.

More answers are in the FAQs, and every help topic is gathered in the Help Center.
